Eastside luncheon with Neil Lomax

February 13, 2015

PicMonkey Collage

Neil Lomax was a standout college player at Portland State University and held 90 NCAA records, including one game where he threw for seven touchdown passes in a single quarter. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications in 1981. Lomax was drafted by the then St. Louis Cardinals, and had a 9-year career in the NFL; he retired in 1990.

As Neil sat in church one Sunday, in June 2009, listening to stories about SouthLake’s first Day of Service at Roosevelt High School, something gripped him and he decided he needed to give back a portion of the gift God had given him. Football. How could he help pass on the great experience of playing football, and make it important in a kid’s life? A phone call to the newly hired head coach, with a genuine offer to help, led to a coaching position with the Roosevelt Rough Riders. He couldn’t know then how it would change him. He and the other coaches, are constantly learning and changing their “game plan” for growing young kids into men. Through football.

Lomax is the president of ProMax Event Management and an avid golfer.  He and his wife Laurie live in Lake Oswego, and have four children: Nick, Ali, Jack and Mitch- all accomplished athletes.

Make plans to join us for lunch and hear Neil share his life-story; a story of sports, family and giving back of the one thing he always counted on- the love of God.

RSVP is required and the cost of lunch is $20.00  You are encouraged to invite and register your friends.

September 24th with KATHY ANFUSO

Downtown at the University Club

K Anfuso and familyKathy Shea Anfuso is from Sand Point, New York and attended Loretto Heights College in Denver Colorado. Kathy’s father, whom she would describe as very relational, was a New York attorney with much influence and political power. His efforts to bring National League Baseball back to New York culminated in both the Mets and in the stadium bearing his name. Kathy’s mother was an amazing woman of stature who would often remind her, “they’re watching.”

Kathy married attorney Vic Anfuso, son of a longtime NY Congressional Representative. Kathy and Vic lived a grand lifestyle in the New York City area with their 5 small children, until they were called to make a life shift.

Vic was being led to leave New York and travel to California to begin ministry training. Kathy describes leaving New York City to California, and eventually Oregon, like going through the bends; a decompression sickness experienced by divers and aviators from rapid pressure changes.

Kathy has 9 grandchildren and serves on the board of Portland Rescue Mission. People who know Kathy often describe her as very down-to-earth and inspirational. Kathy will be sharing her life-story and journey of faith. She will address two nagging questions:

“Is this all there is?” and “What is the purpose that drives you?”

Victor L Anfuso

April 21, 2014

Anfuso collageWe had a record turn out at last week’s Eastside luncheon to hear PBL co-founder Vic Anfuso. He shared what was an eloquent and compassionate call to press into our trials, look for the root of our struggle, and lean on God to reach our full potential. “Do not live in the spirit of fear, for fear can make you do strange things. Trust God and His peace. Set an appointment with God to pray; then, keep ALL of your appointments. Make mention of others during your prayers; prayer for others, brings us peace.”

Victor L Anfuso, PBL co-founder

You are invited to join us for our Eastside PBL luncheon on Wednesday April 16th to hear our guest speaker Vic Anfuso.

Victor L. Anfuso is a co-founder of Portland Business Luncheons, which began as an organization in 1987.

Most recently, in 2013, Vic became a business consultant with Cordant Wealth Partners.
